Case Study - Leaders In Action

Leaders In Action

THE BRIEF: To equip line managers with the skills and awareness to motivate their teams, and to lead them to out-perform challenging targets.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

For participants to:
  • Understand the power and influence they have as a result of their current personal leadership style
  • Learn and practice new leadership theory and techniques
  • Develop the confidence to manage change by identifying critical moments when action is most effective
  • Build on their abilities to inspire and motivate colleagues

THE PROGRAMME

The programme took place over 3 days in the Lake District, undertaking a series of team projects to parallel various working situations. Through working in a small group both in the role of 'team leader' and 'team member', participants experienced the responsibilities of the various roles and the effects of different management styles.

The programme included review discussions and individual feedback to help participants to learn from their experiences.

Participants are encouraged to explore the aspects of team work and leadership that have a significant impact on project outcomes, and always with a focus on each individual’s learning objectives for the workplace.

One participant, Lorna, came along on our Leaders in Action course on two occasions within the same year: once before her promotion and once after, in her new position as a Team Leader in a national bakery.

She comments that the courses helped her to get a full understanding of her strengths and weaknesses, get new ideas to develop her leadership style, and to develop an action plan to make big changes to her approach at work.
